Things to Consider for a Pool Renovation

  1. Permits.Even though it is an existing swimming pool, a permit for the construction will likely be required depending on whether you are located Oakville, Mississauga, Burlington or Milton. You may also require permits and approvals from a conservation authority, Highway 407 and other parties who have rights or easements to your property. Some permits can take up to 6 months for completion.
  2. Rules have changed. Since your original swimming pool was installed, the city, region and the province has made changes to bylaws and legal requirements. You will likely be required to have additional safety features you did not have before or make changes to existing ones.
  3. Options, and more options. Technology and features have come along way. Consider what upgrades you may want to include in your renovation such as lighting, equipment, operating technology, deck finishes and pool design features.
  4. Landscape and hardscapes. Even if you complete things in phases, be thoughtful about what you want for landscape updates and hardscapes like patio, outdoor kitchens, and fire pits so that they are incorporated in the overall master design plan.
