My pool is closed for the winter, now what?
Here are some tips for after you have had your swimming pool closed for the season.
- Put away the parts we leave behind after the closing somewhere safe and somewhere you will remember for safe keeping until spring opening.
- Do your best to remove debris and water that may build up on your pool cover after a storm. Use can use a hose or pool broom to help remove debris, such as leaves, branches and twigs, and a shop vac remove any excess water that may be pooling on the surface.
- If there has been a heavy snow fall, use a plastic shovel to push snow build up off where possible to reduce the weight on the winter cover.
- Store away lighter patio furniture and items that could blow onto the pool during a winter storm.
- Trim overhanging tree branches before winter sets in. Falling iced tree branches are the top culprit for puncturing winter pool covers. Trim back branches to prevent an accident from happening.
- Every few weeks do a visual check to ensure the cover is secured tightly and no openings have appeared.
